Democratic National Convention Committee Announces Prequalification Forms Available for 2012 Construction Subcontracting Opportunities

CHARLOTTE—The Democratic National Convention Committee, the Committee for Charlotte in 2012 and the Hargrove/Rodgers Russell Hunt convention construction management team today announced that construction prequalification forms are now available on the Vendor directory, which can be accessed through website (http://demconvention.us2.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=0c6d933b504b3244882c2b6d8&id=621001f25c&e=c00f00e76d).  The deadline for returning prequalification forms to the construction management team will be March 1, 2012.

“If you look at the scope of work there is a spectrum of subcontracting opportunities available,” stated Kimberlin Love, DNCC Director of Hall Operations. “This is a great opportunity for local businesses to get a piece of the action.  But to be eligible to bid on the packages that will become available in the spring, businesses must go through the prequalification process.  And the vendor directory is the hub for this activity.”

The release of the pre-qualification form is the next step in an outreach process that began November 21, 2011 at the Charlotte Convention Center with a subcontracting information session. The prequalification forms will allow interested firms the opportunity to become eligible to bid on potential categories of work including but not limited to: acoustical panel ceilings, carpentry, arena seating “fixed & movable” (removal, storage & reinstallation), custodial (construction cleaning & final cleaning), electrical, fencing/site work & barricades, IT/cabling, metal framing and drywall, millwork (removal & replacement/restoration–repair), scaffold platforms & handrails (temporary), painting and wall covering, rigging and warehousing/storage & transport (onsite & offsite).

The Construction Management team will also attend meetings of various business membership organizations identified in North and South Carolina, now through March   to ensure firms are aware of contracting opportunities and requirements to bid on work.

“The Hargrove/Rodgers Russell Hunt team will release the scope of work and bid packages once the prequalification process is complete,” stated Pat Rodgers of Rodgers Russell Hunt. “At this point, interested firms should submit the prequalification forms based on potential work categories listed in the form on the website.”

In October of 2011, the DNCC awarded contracts for the Construction Management and Event/Exposition Services of the 2012 Democratic National Convention to Hargrove/Rodgers Russell Hunt. The team combined represents a partnership of firms that include locally based firms, firms with strong ties to Charlotte and North Carolina and firms that have a strong record of working with women, minority and disability-owned and union labor.

Local businesses are strongly encouraged to register on the vendor directory, which can be found at
